Avant-Garde
Avant-garde encourages India’s brightest minds to brainstorm together, and design methods with a potential to revolutionise the microfinance industry.
It offers student an opportunity to bring game-changing ideas to life and present it to a distinguished panel of judges who will determine which group best understood, analysed, and submitted innovative ideas that can redefine the working of microfinance and affordable housing sectors.
Avant-garde completed 8 years of successful in running and like every year we received an overwhelming response with more than 690 registrations across India’s top B-Schools but only 9 teams made it to the national finals.
There was a slight twist this year and instead of one case-study, we had two case-studies representing both our entities Svatantra Microfin Pvt. Ltd. (SMPL) & Svatantra Micro Housing Finance Corporate Ltd. (SMHFC) . For the microfinance branch we were looking at identifying right partnerships with start-ups to solve the issues around Health, Education, Employment, and Finclusion. However, for the housing finance company we were keen to understand the use of technology to leverage ‘reverse migration’.
Both the teams were from S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research , winning team (Sai Sankalp Vemavarapu, Rishabh Mishra, and Ishant Bansal) presented innovative and compelling idea for the problem statement and were awarded PPI with Aditya Birla Group Leadership Program and INR. 2 lac for their winning idea. And runner-up team (Nidhi Dave, Khushi Bahl. And Dhruvin Zaveri) were awarded INR. 1 lac & PPI with Aditya Birla Group Leadership Program.
